What resolution should I use?

16x for performance and the vanilla feel; 32x or 64x as a sensible middle ground; 128x+ if you have a discrete GPU and want photorealistic detail. Higher resolutions also need higher VRAM allocation.

Do resource packs work with shaders?

Yes — most resource packs are compatible with shader packs. PBR-enabled packs (with normal and specular maps) require Iris/OptiFine and a shader that supports PBR (e.g. Complementary Reimagined, BSL).

Are resource packs free?

The vast majority are free. A small number of premium "pro" packs sell extended versions on the author's Patreon or Gumroad — we link only to the free baseline distribution.
