📖About Decay Zones

Decay Zone

Decay Zone is a high-performance environment management utility for Minecraft servers, designed to introduce autonomous block degradation within user-defined regions. Built for server administrators who require precise control over world aesthetics and entity management, the plugin provides a robust framework for managing block erosion with high levels of immersion and technical reliability.

Core Features

Advanced Region Management

Utilize a streamlined selection system to define cuboid zones with integer-based coordinate snapping. This ensures that every defined boundary aligns exactly with the block grid, preventing visual and functional overlaps.

Administrative Control Interfaces

Manage your server environment through an optimized Graphical User Interface (GUI). The interface centralizes all zone management tasks, allowing administrators to:

  • Monitor all active decay regions.
  • Modify decay durations per-zone.
  • Toggle active status without restarting the server.
  • Rename existing zones for improved organizational workflow.

Material-Aware Immersion

Decay Zone implements a sophisticated feedback system to enhance the player experience during the degradation process:

  • Acoustic Feedback: Material-dependent audio triggers (Wood, Stone, Gravel, etc.) simulate the physical stress and fracturing of blocks.
  • Visual Fidelity: Dynamic particle systems generate material-accurate dust clouds and atmospheric effects (smoke and ash) during the lifecycle of a decaying block.

Automated Cleanup and Entity Optimization

The Auto-Cleanup feature provides a per-zone toggle to determine the final state of a decayed block. Administrators can choose to have blocks drop as standard items or be automatically removed from the world, significantly reducing entity pressure on high-population servers.

Reliable Data Persistence

The plugin employs a proactive auto-save architecture. Every configuration change—including zone creation, renaming, and setting adjustments—is persisted immediately to local storage, ensuring data integrity across server reboots or unexpected process termination.

Commands and Permissions

Command Function
/decay gui Access the primary zone management dashboard.
/decay show [name] Visualize boundaries for a specific zone or current selection.
/decay pos1 / pos2 Calibrate cuboid selection points.
/decay create Register a new region from the current selection.
/decay rename Update unique zone identifiers.
/decay reload Synchronize the internal state with local storage.
/decay save Manual backup of current zone data to disk.

Permissions

  • decayzone.admin: Grants full administrative authority over all plugin systems.

Installation

  1. Deploy the DecayZone.jar file into your server's plugins directory.
  2. Initialize the server to generate necessary configuration files.
  3. Utilize /decay pos1 and /decay pos2 to begin environmental calibration.
