Wildex Bestiary
In-game bestiary that automatically tracks all creatures you encounter, including modded mobs.
📖About Wildex Bestiary

Wildex Bestiary
Wildex adds an in-game bestiary that documents the creatures in your world as you encounter them.
Mobs are discovered naturally through gameplay — by fighting them or observing them with a Spyglass. Once discovered, their information becomes available inside a dedicated book-style UI. No external wikis, no automatic spoilers, no background scanning.
Wildex works with vanilla and modded mobs alike and is designed to fit cleanly into large modpacks.
How it works
- Mobs are discovered by:
- Killing them
- Observing them with a Spyglass
- Discovery is tracked per player, per world
- Technical and non-relevant entities are excluded automatically
Information unlocks progressively as you play.
In-Game Bestiary
Wildex provides a dedicated bestiary book with a clean, readable interface:
- Searchable mob list
- Designed for large modpacks and long play sessions
- No dependency on external tools or browser lookups
Each mob entry can display:
- Stats and attributes
- Loot ranges based on real drops
- Spawn biomes and dimensions
- Additional mob information
Completion & Spyglass Pulse
Completing the bestiary is a tracked achievement.
Once all trackable mobs are discovered, players unlock Spyglass Pulse:
- Temporarily highlights nearby mobs through walls
- Includes cooldowns and visual/sound feedback
- Acts as a reward for completion, not a default feature
Multiplayer & Modpack Friendly
- All progress is stored server-side
- Fully multiplayer-safe
- Player-specific progress only
- Minimal network traffic, request-based syncing
No constant ticking.
No world scanning.
No performance overhead.
Configuration
Wildex is configurable via NeoForge config files:
- Enable or disable Hidden Mode
- Require the Wildex book for access
- Automatically give the book on first join
- Debug discovery options
- Exclude specific mobs by ID
KubeJS / FTB Quests Integration
Wildex supports optional integration with KubeJS. Wildex also supports optional integration with FTB Quests. Setup details, config, and examples are in the GitHub README
Compatibility & Performance
- Works with modded mobs and dimensions
- Reads modded loot tables safely
- Does not modify entity behavior or spawning
*The idea for this mod comes from Araxers Bestiary Mod—definitely check it out! I created my own version because I needed a bestiary for NeoForge 1.21.1.
