The Wasteland

The Wasteland is a mod for NeoForge 1.21.1 that adds a new radioactive dimension to Minecraft : the Wasteland ! In this dangerous dimension, you will find new threats like mobs or even worse : radioactivity ! But you can also craft items to help you survive this challenging dimension.

IMPORTANT : This mod does not add any content to the otherworld so if you're looking for a mod to include on a zombie apocalypse modpack for example, this mod probably isn't what you want.

[🏚️] How to get to the Wasteland ?

The Wasteland is accessible by building a portal out of hazard concrete. Hazard concrete is a new block which can be crafted with both yellow and black concrete. Finally, you need to light the portal using a portal core, crafted from glass panes, iron, and a flint and steel.

[☢️] Radioactivity in the Wasteland :

The Wasteland introduces a brand new mechanic to Minecraft : radioactivity ! Players can be irradiated by :

• staying in the Wasteland for too long without protection
• standing near a radioactive block such as a waste barrel
• having a radioactive item in their inventory
• standing close to another irradiated player

Players affected by radiation will feel the effects step by step depending on their current amount of radiation :

• ≥ 25 Sv : Radiation poisoning I (2 less hearts)
• ≥ 50 Sv : Radiation poisoning II (4 less hearts), Mining fatigue I
• ≥ 75 Sv : Radiation poisoning III (6 less hearts), Mining fatigue II, Slowness I
• ≥ 100 Sv : Radiation poisoning IIII (8 less hearts), Mining fatigue III, Slowness II, Wither I

Players can use a geiger counter to see their radiation level. A gas mask will divide the radiation they receive by 2, and a hazmat suit provides complete protection against radiation !

[🪳] Mobs in the Wasteland :

The Wasteland is inhabited by strange mutated creatures and explorers who died trying to discover its secrets. For now, the mod includes 4 mobs :

• The mutant, a big green and strong monster that will attack you on sight. They have a lot of HP so be careful of them. If you manage to kill one, you will be rewarded with meat, leather, mutant teeth which are used to craft weapons, and slimeballs.
• The irradiated, a dead scientist that turned into a zombie after dying of radiation. These are the basic zombies of the Wasteland. They drop rubber and rotten flesh.
• Irradipedes, fearful mutant cockroaches that will try to avoid you... unless you hit one of them. If you do, they will all attack back at once. They also seem not to like mutants for some reasons. You can also breed them, allowing you to farm their drop, irradipede scutes. Irradipede scutes can be crafted into a scute shield, or turned into scute powder and combined with bone meal to create dubious fertilizer.
• The Infected scientist, a new zombie variant that spawns in abandonned labs and spawns with a new potion effect : Infection. Infection does not do anything for now but it can spread to other entities.
