📖About RPG Extra Inventory

RPG Extra Inventory — Skyrim-Inspired Inventory for Minecraft

⚠️ Proof of Concept / Work in Progress
This mod is currently experimental and not intended for a standard survival playthrough.

✨ Overview

RPG Inventory is a Fabric mod that aims to completely redesign how Minecraft’s inventory works, shifting it toward a true RPG experience inspired by games like Skyrim.

This is not a simple UI tweak.
The goal is to change how players interact with items, equipment, and their character in a more immersive and role-play-oriented way.

Current State – Please Read Before Installing

🚧 RPG Extra Inventory is a Proof of Concept (PoC)

This means:

  • The mod is actively under development
  • It may reduce the fluidity of the Minecraft experience
  • It may prevent normal game completion
  • Bugs are expected and normal

👉 Do not install this mod on important worlds.
👉 Treat it as an experimental playground, not a finished product.

⚠️ Known Compatibility Issues

  • The mod may have issues with Just Enough Items (JEI)
  • Some interactions between JEI and the RPG inventory are currently unstable
  • This will be investigated and improved in future updates

Current Features

✔️ Fully Reworked Inventory

  • Skyrim-inspired layout and interaction
  • Completely different from vanilla Minecraft
  • Designed with long-term RPG mechanics in mind
  • INFINITE inventory, only weight limits you, a separate file will be created in the world folder, you can stack up 9 223 372 036 854 776 000 items (thats a lot)

✔️ Advanced Item Customization
Each item can have:

  • 🟣 Rarity
  • 💰 Price
  • ⚖️ Weight
  • 📜 Lore

✔️ Inventory Weight System

  • The player has a maximum carry weight
  • Fully configurable
  • Negative effects can be applied when overweight (also configurable)

✔️ Mod Compatibility

  • Compatible with mods that add new items
  • Systems are designed to be modular and extensible

Controls

The mod adds two new keybinds (must be configured in controls):

  • RPG Inventory → Opens the RPG inventory (DEFAULT R)
  • GEAR → Reserved for a future RPG equipment HUD (DEFAULT G)

A permanent RPG-style equipment HUD is planned for the future.

🧾 Commands

The mod adds 5 commands, all starting with /rpginv:

  • /rpginv clear <player/@> [item]
Clears items from the RPG extra inventory of the selected player, leave item empty to clear the entire inventory.

  • /rpginv count <player/@> [item]
Counts the number of items currently present in the selected player’s RPG inventory.

  • /rpginv give <player/@> [item] <amount>
Gives items directly into the RPG inventory.
⚠️ The default Minecraft /give command still gives items to the vanilla inventory.

  • /rpginv list <player/@>
Lists registered every items in RPG extra inventory of the selected player (used mainly for debugging and testing).

  • /rpginv reload
Reloads RPG inventory data without restarting the game (testing/debug purpose).

Planned Features

  • RPG equipment HUD
  • UI improvements and polish
  • Expanded RPG mechanics
  • Performance improvements and code cleanup

Current Balancing

Default settings are NOT representative of the final vision:

  • Some items (e.g. diamond weapons) may have:
    • ❌ no value
    • ❌ no rarity
  • Current values exist only for testing purposes

Compatibility

  • Mod Loader: Fabric
  • Fabric API: 0.18.4
  • Minecraft Version: 1.21.1

Final Notes

RPG Inventory is not a finished mod.
It is a foundation, a concept, and a vision for turning Minecraft into a deeper RPG experience.
