📖About ooney's Alpha Patches

A Better Alpha Experience

Version

This mod is made for Minecraft Alpha 1.1.2_01.

This mod serves to provide an accessible alpha experience, without compromising on any vanilla features. Mainly back-porting utility features or giving niche features more use (Furnace Minecart).

If you wish to have less tweaks than what the latest has, consider downgrading to an older version of this mod.

Purpose

Personally, I created this as a way for me to get into Minecraft modding. I mainly work in Java, and what better way to use some of this experience than to work with the most popular Java program ever made! Besides, I've been playing Minecraft since this time, but I was very young. This project, I can say, has definitely revitalized my love for the simpler times of this game. It allows me to be creative in a different aspect, and I believe mod-making gives me way way way way more possibilities than the constraints of Alpha Minecraft's block palette.

Features (In order, descending version)

Latest (1.7.4) - Zooming

  • (_01): Replaced FOV Dialing (Version 1.5 Addition) with an FOV Slider in the options menu.

  • Added the ability to zoom with G

  • Added key bind customizability to zooming and toggling perspective

  • The user no longer has to hold down F3 to enter the debug menu.

1.7.3 - ModLoader

  • Added a ModLoader, takes in mods starting with "mod_"

1.7.2 - I Like Trains

  • Slightly buffed Furnace Minecart's speed (50%)

  • Fixed Debug Sheep Drop Rates

  • Fixed Rail Crash

1.7.1 - Orientation Placementation

  • Stairs and Furnaces no longer rotate based off of their neighboring blocks, but rather which direction the player is facing.
  • Had an accidental debug feature where sheep dropped 40 wool upon shearing, this build will be replaced by 1.7.2.

1.7.0 - Sky's Not The Limit

  • A Double Build Limit (128 --> 256)

Version 1.6.4 - Signs on Jukeboxes

  • Allowed for the user to change the "Now Playing:" text overlay when playing a music disc. Place a sign on the jukebox, and on the second line, type "Now Playing:." Then, whatever is on the third and fourth line will be displayed.2025-10-11_07 09 23

I inserted a disc with the title that describes the song written on the sign

Signs placed on any side of the jukebox, even the bottom, will be able to change the overlay, so long as it fits the instruction above.

Version 1.6.3 - Tool Effectiveness

  • Patched certain blocks not being affected by a tool's effectiveness on it, such as furnaces, stairs, fences, redstone, etc.

Version 1.6.1 - Custom-ish Music

  • Added the ability for the user to alter the 13.ogg and cat.ogg files to whatever they desire.
  • However, the user cannot change other sounds. I may or may not release a separate update to allow it.

Version 1.5 - FOV Dialing, Screenshot.

  • Backported the ability for the user to take a screenshot with F2.
  • Added a new control to change the player's Field-Of-View (FOV).
  • ^ Hold CTRL, and scroll. There will be a header on the top left displaying the FOV whilst holding CTRL. Default FOV is 70.

Version 1.4.1 - Front Facing Third Person Camera

  • Press F3 twice to access the front-facing camera.
  • 1.5.1 fixed issues with camera collision with the front camera.

Version 1.3 - Hide UI Backport

  • Press F1 to hide the UI.

Version 1.2 - XYZ Coordinates

  • Backported the ability to see the user's coordinates with the F3 debug menu.

Version 1.0 - Initial Release

  • Added a live date/time clock display on the top left, replacing the version header.

Good Day.
