📖About Natural Regrowth for ProtoManly's Weather

🌳 Natural Regrowth

Natural Regrowth is an immersive and highly configurable addon for ProtoManly's Weather (0.15.3+) that overhauls the aftermath of destructive weather. Instead of leaving permanent, ugly scars in your landscape, storms and wildfires now leave behind a destroyed, but recovering ecosystem.

Now fully compatible with PM Weather 0.16.x!

✨ Key Features:

🔥 NEW: Wildfire Regrowth:

Burnt forests are no longer permanent wastelands. Charred logs will eventually crumble into soil and saplings once the fire has passed, allowing the forest to regrow from the ashes.
HealedForest

🚫 Native Decay Rework:

This mod disables PM Weather's native "Rotted Log" decay system, replacing it with a fully immersive and configurable regrowth cycle.

🌲 Universal Tree Compatibility:

Using an upgraded search algorithm, Natural Regrowth can now detect the saplings for almost ANY modded tree (including Mangrove propagules) without needing manual configuration.

🌪️ Tornado, Cyclone, and Wind Repair:

Stumps left by tornadoes, and trees stripped by cyclones and squalls, will heal naturally over time.

⏱️ "Catch-Up" Mechanic:

Stumps in unloaded chunks don't freeze in time. When you return to a damaged area, the mod calculates how long you were gone and simulates the sapling growth, so forests heal even when you aren't watching.

🌱 Scoured Earth Healing:

Scoured and Charred grass will slowly heal back to vanilla grass (Configurable).

🔥 How It Works (Wildfires):

When a wildfire burns through a forest, it leaves behind Charred Logs.

The Cooling Period: Charred logs enter a "dormant" state. They will wait 20 minutes (configurable) before entering a state where they can attempt to grow.

The Regrowth: Once the area is safe and the config delay has passed, the stump eventually decays, planting a sapling in its place to restart the cycle.
Healing Wildfire Saplings

🌪️ How It Works (Wind):

When a tornado tears through a forest, it no longer simply destroys the trees. Trees that are stripped of their leaves and branches now leave behind "Damaged Stumps" (visually represented by stripped wood variants). Over time (approx. 1.5 - 2 hours by default), these stumps will naturally heal and transform into saplings.

Trees on the edge of a destructive tornado that lose their leaves are also considered "destroyed." Natural Regrowth will place a stripped stump at the bottom indicating damage. Eventually, they will collapse and begin the regrowth cycle as well.

Forest After

🌀 Cyclone and Squall Support:

Natural Regrowth handles wind damage caused by cyclones and squalls. Instead of regrowing the whole tree from a sapling, damaged trees will regrow their leaves and "rebark" themselves over time, fixing the aesthetic damage without resetting the forest age.

⚙️ Configuration & Commands:

A comprehensive config file allows you to adjust:

Regrowth Chance: How fast forests grow back (tuned for real-time hours).

Delays: How long a stump must wait before it starts trying to grow (useful for keeping fire scars visible for a while).

Healing Rates: How quickly scoured/charred grass reverts to normal.

New Debug Commands:

/nr grow - Instantly forces regrowth in an area (Creative testing).

/nr ready - Skips the delay timer for all nearby stumps.

📝 Dependencies & Credits:

Requires ProtoManly's Weather (0.15.3 or higher).

Compatible with Elton's Modified Tornado Damage.

Partially compatable with dynamic trees. While tornado and wind damage regrowth remain funtional, wildfire regrowth is currently not supported due to limitations between PMWeather and Dynamic Trees.
