Fauna & Orchestra is a Neoforge mod that explores the magic of music: you'll be able to tame some of the 8 new animals and give them instruments so they form a little orchestra with its frog conductor!

The newer update adds story progression as well: you'll be met by a mysterious character that warns you about the dangers of melomancy and asks for your help. By exploring the world you'll meet new characters, improve your melomantic skills (a new form of musical magic), create musical artifacts (like a choreomania bomb) and discover the secrets of this musical world.

The more you delve in melomancy the more branches you'll find, deciding if you want to go for a more dangerous and dark one, a biomantic one or both. The more you progress, the nearer the great finale will be: since you'll have to battle the Great Composer!

What's been added?

Story: A strange character meets you at the beginning warning you about the wonders of this musical world as well as its terrors. The strange figure gives you Symphonia, the guide of the mod, and disappears.

NPCs: Meet new lovely characters, such as Faust & Orion!

New animals: Lemurs, Beavers and Butterflies have been added as well as many other more special creatures!

New musical items: Boogie Bomb, Boogie Fruit… and many more!

FAQ

Is it going to be ported to 1.X.X or to Fabric?

The 1.20.1 backport was the exception, since it's still quite a popular modding version. For the time being, I'll keep updating both the 1.21.1 and 1.20.1 Forge/Neoforge versions respectively, since I have no interest currently in Fabric nor newer/older versions. This might change in the future, depending on if there is a new popular modding version. I'd rather spend time implementing new features than spending countless hours learning other versions!

What's coming next?

This is a long question. I have some other mod ideas as well as the next couple of updates planned. I don't know what to do first, though. Next update will be more "1.0" like, focusing on cosmetics and visuals. Animal variations (Orchid Mantises, Grown Emperor Penguins...), animal costumes, and so much more. It won't have much story/progression impact, though it will have some.
However, the update after that will focus on continuing the story progression with quests, new characters and new adventures. Stay tuned!

Why so many small updates?

I test the mod thoroughly before releasing it. However, because I know every detail of the code, it's hard for me to catch the small bugs. My only testers are my friends, who report the errors during their playthrough. This is why there have been so many updates. Hopefully, once they finish it, everything will be fixed! Why is the Mantis so big?
