Speedrunning Minecraft

Speedrunning is about defeating the Ender Dragon as fast as possible. This guide covers the main "Any% Random Seed Glitchless" category.

Run Overview

The fastest runs follow this general path:

1. Spawn → Get wood/stone
2. Find village → Get beds, food, iron
3. Build/light Nether Portal
4. Bastion → Ender Pearl trades/loot
5. Nether Fortress → Blaze Rods
6. Return to Overworld
7. Find Stronghold → End Portal
8. Kill Dragon with beds

Overworld Start

First 2 Minutes

1. Get 4-5 logs immediately
2. Craft wooden axe while moving
3. Get more wood (total ~20 logs)
4. Find village OR exposed lava for portal

Village Loot Priority

1. Beds - Check every house (need 7+ for dragon fight)
2. Hay bales → Bread - Food for run
3. Iron from golem - Kill golem for 3-5 iron (flint & steel + bucket)
4. Blacksmith chests - Iron, obsidian, diamonds

No Village? (Lava Pool Route)

1. Find surface lava
2. Mine stone for bucket materials
3. Make bucket, Flint & Steel
4. Build portal by casting obsidian with water + lava

Nether Segment

Bastion Remnant (Pearl Trading)

Bastions contain Piglins who trade for Ender Pearls.

1. Wear gold boots/armor (craft or find)
2. Collect gold blocks from bastion
3. Throw gold at Piglins (1 gold = small chance of pearls)
4. Target: 12+ ender pearls

Bastion Types:

• Treasure Room - Best for gold, most dangerous
• Bridge - Good gold, moderate danger
• Hoglin Stable - Easy gold, food source
• Housing - Quick gold from chests

Nether Fortress (Blaze Rods)

Need 7+ Blaze Rods:

1. Find fortress (look for dark red Nether bricks)
2. Locate Blaze Spawner
3. Kill blazes with sword or beds
4. 7 rods minimum (provides 14 blaze powder)

Finding the Stronghold

Eye of Ender Direction

1. Throw Eye of Ender
2. Follow direction (eye floats toward stronghold)
3. When eye goes DOWN, stronghold is below
4. Dig straight down (carefully!) to find it

Triangulation (Faster Method)

1. Throw eye at Location A, note direction
2. Travel 200+ blocks perpendicular
3. Throw eye at Location B, note direction
4. Lines intersect = stronghold location

Dragon Fight

Bed Strategy

Beds explode in the End, dealing MASSIVE damage to the dragon.

1. Place bed on obsidian fountain edge
2. Wait for dragon to perch
3. Right-click bed when dragon's head is close
4. Back away before explosion
5. Repeat 4-5 times = dead dragon

One-Cycle Setup

For sub-15 minute runs:

1. Build up to fountain immediately on spawn
2. Pre-place beds around fountain rim
3. Detonate beds rapidly during perch

Advanced Tips

• Boat clutch - Place boat before hitting ground to negate fall damage
• F3+C copying - Copy coords for triangulation
• Pearl stasis - Advanced portal linking
• Practice splits - Work on weakest segments individually
